Project Description:

The 701 North Salina Street project was completed in the fall of 2020. This property was recently restored by the owner and converted into several apartment units. The restoration also included the outdoor spaces that were funded by the Green Improvement Fund (GIF). This GIF project replaced the currently impervious asphalt parking lot with porous pavement, and porous pavers were installed where a section of the building was demolished. Existing concrete and asphalt pavement were converted to greenspace. Both the porous pavement and greenspace manage stormwater from the parking lot and the building roof. Approximately 2,368 square feet of porous asphalt and pavers were installed as well as 750 square feet of added greenspace and four new trees. The roof drains collecting runoff on each building on the site were retrofitted to discharge into a catch basin in the parking lot, where they will discharge into the porous asphalt. Overall, the installed green infrastructure captures approximately 124,000 gallons of stormwater runoff annually.

Partial view of the 701 N Salina St Project. The porous parking lot is generally surrounded by added green space and porous pavers.
Porous pavers laid in a herringbone pattern between the two buildings found on the site.
