Project Description:

This project involved the installation of a rain garden and two bioretention areas on County property bounded by Delaware Street, Grand Avenue, and Amy Street.  The Delaware Rain Garden is a “Greening the Gray” project associated with the Harbor Brook Interceptor Sewer Replacement & CSO Abatement (HBIS) Project and was used as the staging and field office area for the project. In addition, this location was the site of the proposed Upper Harbor Brook Regional Treatment Facility which will not be constructed in favor of more sustainable green technologies throughout the Harbor Brook basin.

The green infrastructure includes a series of bioretention swales which collect offsite runoff from impervious areas and manage the onsite stormwater as well. The site has a park-like setting with educational components.
