GIF – Zip Networks

The project at is located at 100 Wilkinson Street.  Zip Networks is a leader of Information Technology Hardware and specializes in the delivery of custom solutions.  The building sits on a 0.6 acre lot and much of the area is impervious, which generates a substantial amount of sztormwater runoff.  In order to manage the stormwater from the property, Zip Networks partnered with the Onondaga County Save the Rain program to implement green infrastructure elements to manage the stormwater runoff on-site.

A green roof was installed to mitigate runoff from the building.  Engineered soil medium was used on the roof top with plant clippings placed throughout the roof area for vegetation.  Over time, the clippings will establish a strong root network and flourish throughout the roof area.

Approximately 14,225 square feet of green infrastructure was installed that will capture an estimated 250,500 gallons of stormwater annually.
