Project Description:

This community tree planting included the addition of 24 trees in Union and Demong Parks in Syracuse, NY. Tree plantings are an important aspect of the Save the Rain program because they absorb rain water and reduce the potential of runoff to the sewer system. Trees naturally soak up stormwater and use the precipitation to feed their root systems.  Each tree absorbs approximately 20,000 gallons of stormwater each year.

This planting was part of the ongoing efforts of the Save the Rain Tree Planting ProgramThe program has developed a robust tree planting strategy for neighborhoods throughout the City of Syracuse.
