West Genesee Street, from Plum Street to Geddes Street, is a highly impervious 4-lane road with significant off-street impervious area draining onto the street, leading to the possibility of substantial stormwater runoff reduction and CSO abatement via a green street project in CSO 066. Additionally, the City is progressing a TIP mill and pave of West Genesee Street from Salina Street westward to the City line, encompassing the Green Streets limits, in 2022/2023, making this area a good candidate for an opportunistic, dual-purpose project.
The project will include underground infiltration trenches on West Genesee St. between North Geddes St. and Plum St., Van Rensselaer St. between West Genesee St. and Park Ave., and Leavenworth St. between West Genesee St. and Park Ave. The estimated runoff reduction is 7,600,000 gallons annually.
