Project Description:

The stormwater retrofit project at City Parking Lot #3 transformed the existing asphalt parking lot located at the intersection of Erie Boulevard and North Warren Street into a porous parking lot that captures and infiltrates stormwater on-site. The project featured the resurfacing of the parking lot with porous concrete in addition to the installation of a subsurface infiltration trench, structural soils, and new landscape features including 26 new trees planted in the interior of the lot and along the perimeter. Structural soils provide more substantial soil volume for trees, thereby promoting successful tree establishment and future growth.

Designed to capture 1-inch of runoff from the lot and adjacent portions of North Warren Street, James Street, and Oswego Boulevard, the total annual capture at City Lot #3 is approximately 678,000 gallons of stormwater.
