Project Description:
The Lean on Me Daycare Center project, located at 422 West Onondaga Street, has served the Near Westside community for many years as a Daycare for children ranging from infants to preschoolers. The project is part of a large scale project on Onondaga Commons, which includes the redevelopment of approx 4 acres of surface parking. To help improve stormwater management methods, Onondaga Commons has partnered with Save the Rain to implement green infrastructure throughout the property.
The project consists of a porous pavement parking lot, which also collects a portion of the building using a new gutter system. The capture area of the green infrastructure is approximately 30,225 square feet and prevents an estimated 534,100 gallons of stormwater from entering the combined sewer annually.
