November 5 Save the Rain Community Tree Planting Event in Strathmore

The Save the Rain tree planting team invites community members to a volunteer tree planting event in the Strathmore Neighborhood on Saturday, November 5th from 9:30am-12pm at Onondaga Park Fire Barn (500 Summit Ave, Syracuse, NY).  A total of 100 trees will be planted by volunteer teams at this event.
The tree planting program is an important component of the Save the Rain program, Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney’s comprehensive stormwater management plan using green and gray infrastructure solutions to capture stormwater and reduce pollution to Onondaga Lake and its tributaries. Over 5,500 trees have been planted to date under the Save the Rain Program.
This event will take place rain or shine and volunteers are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather. It’s also highly recommended that volunteers wear boots or sneakers to the tree planting event for safety. Lunch will be provided following the event for all volunteers.
This is the final Save the Rain tree planting event this year! Volunteers can register online or contact Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County by phone (315) 424-9485 ext. 263 or email [email protected].
