CSO 010 Catch Basin Disconnection

Project Description:

The CSO 010 Sanitary Sewer and Manhole Improvements project highlights the County’s opportunistic approach for CSO abatement. The hydraulics of the regulator structures and siphon for Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) 010 are less than ideal and promote CSO flow to discharge out the outfall to Harbor Brook rather than into the interceptor sewer. The general goal of the CSO 010 sanitary sewer and manhole improvements project is to improve CSO flow into the interceptor sewer and not directly into Harbor Brook. An average total of 300,000 gallons of combined sewer overflow and 4 overflow events from the Harbor Brook combined sewershed are eliminated by this change (SWMM calculations for the 1991 typical year). This is a significant benefit for a minimally invasive and low-cost project.
