The project at is located at 320 Peat Street. Ra-Lin is a family owned discount appliance store based in downtown Syracuse. The project location serves as the warehouse for the store located on Burnet Ave. Much of the property area consists of a warehouse building, which contributes a large amount of runoff into the combined sewer system. In order to manage the stormwater runoff from the property, Ra-Lin teamed up with the Onondaga County Save the Rain program by implementing green infrastructure elements on-site.
The project features a green roof at the warehouse location to mitigate stormwater runoff from the building. Engineered soil medium, which is specifically designed for green roofs, was installed on the building. Additionally, plant clippings were used to vegetate the roof area. Over time the clippings will establish a strong root network and flourish to a thick, solid planting area.
Approximately 13,788 square feet of green infrastructure was installed that will capture an estimated 242,800 gallons of stormwater annually.
