The green roof on the convention center is green at last! When the 66,000 square foot green roof was completed last September, a biodegradeable “wind blanket” made from coconut fiber was placed over the sedum plantings. This protective covering shielded the plants from the elements while the roots were being established during the winter months. Throughout the spring and summer, the sun’s rays have broken this layer down to reveal a very GREEN roof underneath which will capture a million gallons of stormwater each year!
