Project Description:
The CSO 011 Sewer Reconfiguration is a project that further exemplifies the continued partnership between Onondaga County and the City of Syracuse, as the project was constructed at no cost to Onondaga County. This project is an example of Onondaga County partnering with the Syracuse City School District in the Fowler High School Athletic Field Upgrades to reconfigure the connection of the CSO 011 sewer to the Harbor Brook Interceptor Sewer (HBIS) underneath the field.
The existing combined sewer layout restricted hydraulic flow where joining the HBIS, causing increased overflows into Harbor Brook. With the reconfigured, hydraulically improved sewer design, flows enter the HBIS more efficiently. The project eliminates 560,000 gallons of combined sewer overflow from CSO 011. Construction of this project was completed in May 2020.
