Project Description:
The OnCenter Municipal Parking Garage Project is located to the east of the historic OnCenter/War Memorial Arena. The OnCenter is home to countless entertainment attractions for local, regional and national audiences. Since 1992, the OnCenter has been the premiere convention location for the region.
Rain gardens were constructed on the existing landscape surrounding the garage. This new bioretention feature captures and infiltrates the stormwater runoff from the roof leaders and pipe/downspout infrastructure of the parking garage facility. Disconnecting this existing infrastructure from the conventional sewer system resulted in an annual runoff reduction of approximately 1.3 million gallons of stormwater per year.
