This project involved the construction three porous concrete and infiltration bed areas within the existing Seymour Academy parking lot on 108 Shonnard Street. The project has been designed to not only capture runoff from within the parking lot, but also from the streets surrounding the parking lot. The parking lot has been designed to have a clear distinction between the parking spaces and driving lanes with the porous concrete parking spaces.
The Seymour Academy Parking Lot project was constructed in conjunction with the Seymour Academy Playground project in the summer of 2012. The amount of stormwater capture via the parking lot porous concrete and infiltration bed system is approximately 498,000 gallons annually. In total, the two Seymour Academy projects capture 1,217,000 gallons of stormwater annually.
