Project Description:
As part of SUNY Upstate Cancer Center’s expansion, a green roof was installed on a newly built campus building. The new green roof covers approximately 12,000 square feet and prevent 211,000 gallons of stormwater from entering into the combined sewer system annually.
Construction of the campus building where the green roof is located began in Spring 2011. The green roof is part of a larger green initiative SUNY Upstate is undertaking. Several other green infrastructure elements are being incorporated into other SUNY Upstate projects within Onondaga County. These projects range from green roofs, to rain gardens to tree plantings.
